resurfacing at the Finishing Touch. Microdermabrasion is the newest method for exfoliating and renewing the skin. Previously you could only achieve dramatic results in the skin's appearance with laser peels and dangerous chemical acid peels. These older methods had long recovery periods and negative side effects such as possible allergic reactions, skin redness and scarring.
Our microdermabrasion machine produces an exfoliation of the skin's outer layer with a diamond encrusted wand. This wand glides over the skin creating the exfoliation while the suction action removes the loosened skin cells. Unlike the first microdermabrasion machines that used salt crystals which were blown at the skin, our machine uses no crystals. There is nothing to get in your eyes or to become embedded in your skin. The treatment feels like a pumice scrub and is not unpleasant. The machine produces a suction action that has been shown to stimulate collagen and elastin production; which can, over the course of treatments, firm sagging areas. Even though microdermabrasion is a less invasive treatment, recent studies have proven that it can produce the same dramatic results as more invasive laser and chemical peels. Treatment schedules are slightly longer but you can resume normal activity immediately after your session. The skin is usually flushed and will feel a little dry after a treatment but returns to normal within 36 hours.
